History of Boaz, Alabama
Celebrating 100 + Years
The early settlers worked very hard to make the town of Boaz a good place to live. 

One can now only imagine how difficult it was to clear the land for farming, working the crops with a mule and plow, and milling the logs into lumber for homes, barns, churches and schools.

Churches were built first, then a School for the kids to have a place to learn.

The Old Public School was built in 1903.  It no
longer stands because it burned in the early 1920s.

Boaz was home to early businesses as people from miles away took the wagon into town to purchase needed supplies.

Some came to town just to buy a new Hat to wear on Sunday to Church.


It was a simple yet good life in the 20's and 30's in North Alabama. 

The Great Depression had adverse effects on our area, but the Country Life on Sand Mountain was better than many other parts of the U.S.

Van Waldrop Motor Company was one of
Boaz's early Ford Motors Dealership.
Boaz has always had the basic necessities of the time such as Doctors, the Railroad, and many businesses.

The Ford Model A changed life on Sand Mountain as it did all across the U.S. 

Suddenly everyone wanted a car and Boaz had an automobile dealership.
